With the move towards higher levels of FAME with biodiesel blends, the importance of keeping fuel dry to prevent microbial growth becomes much, much more important. Tanks ‘breath-in’ when the fuel level is lowered by use over time. Humid or wet air enters the tank & when the tank cools down at night, then water droplets form on the tank walls & roof, which drop into the fuel.

This system not only removes water from the air when the tank is breathing in, but also has a 1 µm particulate filter that can remove dirt from the air as well. We recommend rebuildable steel breathers for fuel tanks which also include a visual sight glass showing when the desiccant requires replacing (fully saturated with water).
